WYOMING, MN (MinnesotaNow)-- The Wyoming Police Department has confirmed that a reported suspicious incident at a local bus stop on December 16 was completely fabricated.

The initial report, which came from a Forest Lake Area Middle School student, claimed that an unknown man approached them at the bus stop near Goldman Boulevard and East Viking Boulevard around 7:00 AM.

According to the student’s story, the man allegedly asked for their phone number and made them uncomfortable, leading the student to slap him before he ran off.

After conducting a thorough investigation, including interviews with other students, reviewing bus and security camera footage, and following up on leads, police found no evidence to support the story. Ultimately, the student admitted to making it up.

“This was taken very seriously from the start, and we appreciate everyone’s patience while we worked to get to the bottom of it,” said Police Chief Neil Bauer.

The initial report caused some concern in the community, especially with the detailed description of a suspicious man. However, authorities emphasized that there was never any threat and thanked residents for their understanding and cooperation.

Chief Bauer added, “We always encourage people to report things that feel off, even if they’re unsure. It’s better to be safe, and we’re here to look into those concerns.”
