Steakhouses are pretty popular here in Minnesota, and you can get a steak at many establishments, but only one restaurant was just named the best steakhouse in the entire state.

Here's a shocker: Minnesotans like a good steak. Duh, right? According to this recent Consumer Steak Report, 70 percent of Minnesotans overall say steak is their favorite food. That breaks down to 75 percent for guys and 65 percent for women. 64 percent said they would choose steak as their last meal, and 47 percent say they would eat steak more than three times a week if they could!

So, it makes sense that we eat a LOT of steak: Americans consumed 27.6 billion pounds of beef in 2020, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. And, the United States accounted for 21.2% of all the beef consumed worldwide, this Fox Business story said.

Of course, you can get a steak at a lot of different places across the Bold North, from both local restaurants and chains like Outback Steakhouse, Texas Roadhouse, Pittsburgh Blue Steakhouse or Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. But one Minnesota restaurant is now being called the best steakhouse in the entire North Star State.

According to LoveFood's recent survey of the Best Steakhouse in Every American State And DC, the restaurant that is now top-rated is Murray's on South 6th Street in Minneapolis, which it called the best steakhouse in Minnesota. Here's what LoveFood said about this classic Minnesota restaurant:

Since it opened in 1946, Murray’s, a charming family-owned restaurant, has remained a destination for locals and travelers alike. People flock here to enjoy a sirloin for two, known as the Silver Butter Knife Steak. The meat is supposed to be so tender it can be cut with a butter knife – and, to prove it, waiters usually slice it tableside. Murray's French onion soup, crab cakes, and raspberry pie also get the thumbs up from diners.

I've been past Murray's classic neon sign and facade several times while in Minneapolis, but I haven't had a steak there... at least, not yet, that is.

Of course, Minneapolis is also home to another classic steakhouse, with a similar name as well: Manny's Steakhouse, on Marquette Avenue. Manny's has routinely been named as one of the best steakhouses in the U.S., and has even been called one of the best steakhouses in the world. I have had a steak there, and, yeah, it's amazing.
