Bean And Bear Bagels In Duluth Announces Opening Plans

After what has felt like a lengthy wait, a brand-new breakfast stop in Duluth is finally getting ready to open!

Early this year, we learned that Ursa Minor Brewing was preparing to open a quick, convenient breakfast spot called Bean and Bear Bagels.

What is Bean and Bear Bagels? Where is it?

The new breakfast destination would be in the building that is home to their brewing facility and main offices at 202 South 26th Avenue West in West Duluth.

The idea behind this place would be to provide a quick, convenient grab-and-go-style stop for breakfast with the philosophy of using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients.

What is on the Bean and Bear Bagels menu?

In early news about Bean and Bear Bagels, it was shared that the menu would use the same philosophy used in Ursa Minor's beers and pizzas at their taproom: Use locally-sourced and fresh, never frozen ingredients.

While the name tells you there will be bagels, there will also be much more!

When it comes to bagels, you'll be able to order them individually, by the half-dozen, or dozen. At launch, they have 6 different bagels, from plain to sesame, asiago to cinnamon crunch. To go along with them, a few different spread options like whipped butter, strawberry jam, and a few different whipped cream cheese flavors.

On the sandwich menu, they have 7 different options at launch. They range from something classic like their "Northlander", which features egg, cheddar, and sausage, to their "South Shore Spread" that includes a smoked lake trout spread with onion, capers, and romaine lettuce.

There are a couple of club options (turkey and ham), and also a vegetarian option called "Peter Rabbit" that uses hummus, cucumber, carrot, pickled red onion, and romaine lettuce.

Bean and Bear Bagels will also offer a menu of beverages like hot and cold coffee drinks, tea, kombucha, root beer, and smoothies.

When does Bean and Bear Bagels open?

Initially, the hope was to open Bean and Bear Bagels in April or May. The timeline continued to slide back into "sometime this summer" as work continued to prepare the space.

While the customer-facing storefront has been in limbo, Bean and Bear has been making bagels and taking orders for delivery through their website since June.

The wait for their location to finally open for customers to come in and grab a breakfast sandwich, coffee, and/or bagel is finally nearly over!

The owners announced yesterday (August 12) that they will be opening to the public on Wednesday, August 19. Their hours will be from 6 am until 2 pm.

What Will The New Blatnik Bridge Replacement Look Like?

The long-standing Blatnik Bridge between Duluth, Minnesota, and Superior, Wisconsin, will be replaced, with work set to begin in February or March of 2027.

The new bridge is expected to open by October 31, 2031, with the completion of the entire project (including miscellaneous work like landscaping) completed by June 30, 2032.
