Young Rochester Man Airlifted from Crash on Icy Road
Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Lee Rossman said deputies responded to a two vehicle-collision in the 5,000 block of Bamber Valley Rd. shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday. Deputies determined a vehicle traveling south lost control as it hit a patch of ice while navigating a westbound curve.
Rossman said the vehicle spun multiple times before being struck by an eastbound vehicle on the passenger side. The driver of the southbound vehicle was described as an 18-year-old Rochester man and a passenger in his vehicle was described as a 19-year-old Rochester man.
Rossman said the 19-year-old had to be extricated from his vehicle by the Rochester Fire Department. The passenger was airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital from the crash site with what’s being described as serious injuries.
The 18-year-old driver was brought to a hospital by ambulance with what are described as minor injuries. The driver of the eastbound vehicle, described as a 25-year-old pregnant woman from Stewartville, also went to a hospital following the crash.
