As a father of two young boys I know how hard it can be to FIND a great babysitter, let alone negotiate terms that are fair for both parties. The going rate in my area seems to be about $10/hour, per kid which seems a little low all things considered.

Of course, if we are talking a full-on day care situation the cost can skyrocket well past that rate. I am talking more about a few hours on a Friday night when mom and dad just need a quick night out.

According to ZipRecruiter, the average salary for a babysitter in Minnesota is approximately $17 per hour, with babysitters making an average of just over $35,000 per year. This is right around the national average of $18 per hour.

Of the ten Minnesota cities listed in the study, Elk River was found to pay its babysitters an average of $18.65 per hour.

In the middle of the pack was Chaska at $18.89 per hour, or $39,287 per year.

Surprisingly, the most lucrative place to be a babysitter in the State of Minnesota is the home of Treasure City- Royalton!

According to the ZipRecruiter study, a babysitter in Royalton makes $23.25 per hour, which translates to $48,363 per year. Not a bad gig if you can get it!

Right behind Royalton was Elbow Lake in western Minnesota at $21.84 per hour and Excelsior in the western Twin Cities suburbs at $19.70 per hour.
