Man Saved from Pick-up Sent into Southern Minnesota Lake by Crash
Albert Lea, MN (KROC-AM News)- Police are praising two boaters as good samaritans after they saved the driver of a vehicle that was sent into a southern Minnesota lake as the result of a crash.
A news release issued by the Albert Lea Police Department says the incident happened shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday. Officers reported seeing a pick-up truck sinking in roughly 30 feet of water.
The preliminary report indicates the pick-up driver, identified as 85-year-old Dwight Martin Weise of Blue Earth, crashed into a wall on a private property while traveling west on Harriet Ln. The crash then sent the vehicle into the lake.
Police say two individuals on a boat in the area heard the crash and that one of the boaters entered the water, pulled Weise out of the vehicle then brought him to shore.
A Mayo Clinic Ambulance crew evaluated Weise at the scene and determined he escaped the incident unharmed.
Police say the cause of the crash is under investigation.
