
51-Year-Old Rural Minnesota Man Killed After Becoming Trapped in Submerged Skid Loader
A 911 caller reported an individual operating a skid loader had slid into a drainage ditch and became trapped in the equipment.
Clarkfield, MN (MinnesotaNow)- A Minnesota man lost his life in a skid loader mishap.

That’s according to the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office, which says the deadly incident happened on Wednesday afternoon.
The response involved an extended rescue effort, a news release says.

51-Year-Old Clarkfield Man Found Trapped in Submerged Skid Loader Pronounced Dead
First responders were called to the accident around 1:40 p.m. at a rural property near the 2900 block of 440th St. in Clarkfield, which is about 24 miles north of Marshall.
A 911 caller reported an individual operating a skid loader had slid into a drainage ditch and became trapped in the equipment.

First responders found the skid loader on its side and fully submerged in the ditch, the news release says.
Officials say crews recovered the man from the loader after a lengthy rescue effort. The news release says the operator was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities identified the victim of the deadly mishap as Dustin Lucius Virkus of Clarkfield. He was 51 years old.
