Rochester Man Charged With Disseminating Child Porn
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man was released without bail today after he was formally charged in connection with a recent child pornography investigation.
31-year-old Brandyn Kane was arraigned in Olmsted County Court on one count each of dissemination of child pornography and possession of child pornography. The criminal complaint says he was arrested on Thursday after Rochester police executed search warrants covering his person, his vehicle, and his residence.
Rochester police say the investigation targeting Kane began on January 3rd when police received an Internet Crimes Against Children tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tip indicated videos and images depicting child sexual abuse had been uploaded to a social media platform account linked to Kane.
The court document details two of the videos found on Kane's KIK account. Both depicted adult men engaging in sexual contact with young girls. In one case the victim was estimated to be 3-5 years old and the other was between 5-7 years old.
The complaint also indicates Kane agreed to give a statement to investigators. He initially stated that "he would send pictures of girls to guys for money, but maintained they were not kids." He also told the investigators that he would go to child porn links to sell pictures and would "talk to guys through the CP links posing as a younger girl and would send them photos of younger girls he found on normal porn sites." Kane then stated that he had been accessing child pornography for a few months.
He is scheduled to return to court next month for a procedural hearing.
