A news release issued by the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office says dispatchers received a call regarding an individual laying in a road shortly after 4:30 a.m. A second 911 call came in from a person who said they were in a vehicle that may have run a person over.

The emergency calls came from the area of Central Ave. and 109th Ave. Northeast near the National Sports Center in Blaine. Upon arrival first responders rendered aid to the pedestrian, described as an adult male, as he was still laying in the roadway.

A medical helicopter flew to the area to transport the victim, however the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Law enforcement later located the vehicle suspected of being involved in the fatal incident. Officials say the driver is cooperating with the investigation.

The identities of the pedestrian and vehicle believed to have fatally struck him have not been released.
