Guilty Verdict for Rochester Hit and Run Crash and Vehicle Theft
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - An Olmsted County jury has convicted a Wisconsin woman of stealing and then crashing a car in Rochester earlier this year.
According to the criminal complaint filed in April, Rochester police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at a bar along North Broadway on February 16. The court document says the vehicle had been left running outside the bar.
Investigators identified 45-year-old Christina Marie Sievert of Holmen, Wisconsin, as the suspect by reviewing surveillance camera footage.
Shortly after responding to the theft report, Rochester police were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle call on Civic Center Drive Northwest. Responding officers found the stolen vehicle abandoned at that location.
The complaint states the car had noticeable front-end damage. It also notes that officers were called to a hit-and-run at a southeast Rochester apartment complex around the same time.

According to the charges, surveillance videos recorded at the apartment complex show the stolen car, driven by Sievert, ramming into a parked vehicle four times. Sievert was then seen returning on foot to the bar where the car had been stolen and getting into a vehicle with Wisconsin license plates, which were traced to a residence in Holmen.
She was arrested in April and charged with felony motor vehicle theft and first-degree property damage. Her case went to trial last week, and the jury found her guilty on both counts.
