Spring Valley, MN (KROC-AM News)- Firefighters raced to extinguish a fire that broke out at a business in a southeast Minnesota community’s historic downtown Wednesday night.

Reports of the fire came in around 8:30 p.m. Three fire departments responded to the blaze. 

The fire occurred in the 400 block of South Main St. in Spring Valley. Crews from Spring Valley, Wykoff and Stewartville fought the blaze. Responding firefighters found and extinguished the blaze from the back of the building. 

The owner of a business that neighbors the building where the fire broke out posted on social media that everyone got out safely and expressed gratitude to the firefighters for combatting the flames in the arctic conditions. 

Another person, who owns the building where the fire occurred, was at the scene heaped praise upon the firefighters writing on social media that it was, "very humbling to see all the departments working together to fix what had happened." 

The building's owner says a tenant who lives in the apartment on the top floor of the building lost his home.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire and an estimate of the damage it inflicted on the building have not been released.
