
Mayo One Helicopter Responds to Fiery Rollover Crash on Hwy. 43, 60-Year-Old Woman Taken to the Hospital

Lewiston, MN (KROC-AM News)- A southeast Minnesota woman was taken to a hospital following a fiery rollover crash.

She was the only person involved in the single-vehicle crash. The State Patrol responded to the accident scene shortly after 2:00 Wednesday afternoon.
Mayo 1 Helicopter was also called to the crash site. The crash occurred on Hwy. 43 just north of Hartwood Dr., which is about eight miles north of Rushford.

Fiery Rollover Crash on Hwy. 43 Sends Unbuckled Winona Woman to St. Mary's Hospital
A northbound SUV left the two-lane highway after the driver lost control. It then rolled onto its roof and became fully engulfed in flames, according to the state crash report.
The State Patrol identified the driver as 60-year Sandra Kay Kauphusman of Winona. She was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester with non-life-threatening injuries.

The report does not say whether or not she was transported by ground ambulance or flown to the hospital.
Kauphusman was not wearing her seatbelt and not under the influence of alcohol, the state crash report indicates.
The Winona County Sheriff’s Office and Rushford Fire and Ambulance also responded to the fiery crash.
