Austin, MN (KROC-AM News)- Police in Austin are looking for a motorist who left a dog walker with significant injuries.

A dog was also injured. Austin Police Chief David McKichan says officers responded to the scene of the traffic incident shortly before 1:00 Thursday morning. 

Authorities are asking for the public’s help with finding the driver.

65-Year-Old Man and Dog Injured in Austin Hit and Run, Police Looking for Suspect Vehicle

The pedestrian-vehicle description occurred in the 500 block of East Oakland Ave. McKichan said the 65-year-old man had two dogs with him when he was hit by the vehicle, which then fled the scene

The man was taken to the Mayo Clinic hospital in Austin with what police are describing as “significant injuries resulting from the collision.”

The man’s name has not been released.

McKichan says the dogs were turned over to a responsible person and that the injured dog will be seen by a veterinarian. 

As of Thursday morning no suspect has been identified. A description of the suspect vehicle has not been released.
