3 Injured After Minnesota Deputy’s Squad Strikes Vehicle Head-On
Aitkin, MN (KROC-AM News)- A sheriff’s deputy in northern Minnesota was among three people taken to a hospital after his squad vehicle struck a civilian’s vehicle head-on.
It happened shortly after 2:15 Thursday afternoon at a rural intersection. The State Patrol responded to the scene to investigate.
The state crash report indicates the squad SUV, driven by 26-year-old Deputy Dylan James Jindra of Aitkin, was traveling north through an intersection in Farm Island Township, which is about 33 miles east of Brainerd, when it entered the southbound lane and collided with a southbound SUV head-on.
The driver of the SUV, identified as 58-year-old Joselito Tan Burgos of Aitkin, and passenger, 42-year-old Jennifer Jean Burgos of Aitkin, and Jindra all suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The three were taken to a nearby hospital.
A news release issued Friday morning by the Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office says all three individuals were treated and released from the hospital. All three are expected to make a full recovery.
Emergency Room staff at the hospital said the collision would have resulted in more severe injuries if it weren’t for the vehicle’s airbags, the news release says.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash and everyone involved was buckled up, the state crash report says.
