Sunshine, Tan Lines, & Live Music: 3 Can’t Miss Central MN Concerts
I don't know about you, but after that brutally cold weekend we just had, I am already thinking about the warm summer nights that will be here before we know it. If you enjoy good times, great music, and being surrounded by 100s of your newest friends, here are 3 Central Minnesota summer concerts/festivals that you won't want to miss this year.
Lakes Jam At Brainerd International Raceway - June 24 - 27
This is billed as more than a music festival, and it really is. On top of the great music and artists set to perform this year, more on that in a moment, there are other fun non-traditional music festival things for you to do. If you attend this year, look to see mud trucks, snowmobile racing on the water (“watercross”), and drifting on top of the live music.
Headlining the festival this year on Saturday night is Bailey Zimmerman, Friday night is Tucker Wetmore, and on Thursday night, none other than Neal McCoy will close out the action on the main stage. Also expected to perform at Lakes Jam in 2026 are: Dasha, Terri Clark, Chris Cagle, Drew Baldridge, and Josh Ross.
You can see the full lineup by heading here.
Freedom Fest at the Morrison County Fairgrounds - July 17 & 18
Last year, we saw the festival move to a bigger venue at the Morrison County Fairgrounds. In year two at the new location, you can expect more space for camping and bigger artists scheduled to make your weekend fly by. If you can only attend one of the three concerts/festivals on this list, my pick would be to attend Freedom Fest. It's got the charm and personality of a small town, but the artists you'd expect at a larger festival like WeFest or Lakes Jam.
Performing at Freedom Fest this year are the country duo of LoCash and Scotty McCreery, plus Uncle Kracker and Tyler Farr. If you like seeing and hearing country artists before they make it BIG, be sure to check out Allie Colleen and Zach John King.
You can still purchase camping tickets as well as weekend passes for Freedom Fest and learn more about the two-day festival here.
WeFest - Soo Pass Ranch in Detroit Lakes - August 5-8
WeFest is an experience. If you've never been, prepare yourself for a weekend of non-stop fun. This year's line-up might smash all-time attendance records as the names that are coming are some of the biggest in Country music.
Performing this year are Lainey Wilson, Thomas Rhett, Brooks & Dunn, Jamey Johnson, Little Big Town, Randy Houser, Country newcomer Max McNown, Diamond Rio, and Shenandoah. Not enough artists for you? Don't worry, there's more listed here.
What Are You Waiting For?
If any of these concerts/festivals sound like a good time to you, don't wait, as prices are only expected to go up as we roll into a new year. If you are really looking to save on a summer musical experience, tickets to some of these events are sometimes available on the Value Connection.
