New Document Scam Circulating In Minnesota
Here we go again! It's a new year which means many things, including new scams. Sadly, scammers aren't going anywhere in 2026.
The latest scam is circulating around Minnesota and has been reported just a few hours from Duluth. It could and likely will pop up everywhere so it's best to know about how it works so you don't become a victim of it.

Of course, scams are nothing new. Scammers don't even take a break during the holiday season, which really tells you something. There's no end to scams in sight.
Scammers usually don't come up with anything new or crazy but they are getting smarter with technology, making scams seem way more legitimate than they used to. Now, we have another one to worry about in our region.
Blaine Police Department Warns Of Scam Popping Up In Minnesota
What a way to start the new year. The Blaine Police Department took to social media to warn locals about a scam that almost impacted a resident in a big way. This Blaine resident got a document saying they had an outstanding arrest warrant and they had to pay 30,000 bucks to resolve it. Wow!

Of course, this is a scam but like I mentioned, technology makes it a lot harder to figure out what is and isn't real these days. The document, which you can see below, does look pretty legitimate if you ask me. I would have thought it was real for sure!
What To Know About The Latest Scam Moving Across Minnesota
Another thing to note is that this document uses real names of court staff, so a quick Google search might actually have you believing this is real. It also has a court file number and signatures, which also lend to its apparent authenticity.

If you've never had to pay bail or a fine, you probably would also think that you can pay your way with things like Apple Pay and Zelle but you can't, so that's a sign that this is fake. Again, you might not know that if you've never had a fine.
As always, make sure you always reach out to law enforcement directly if you get something like this in the mail or something you are questioning. 30,000 bucks is a LOT of money to be scammed out of so be on high alert always.
