If you live in the Midwest, chances are Fleet Farm has been part of your life at one point or another. You walk in needing one thing and somehow leave with a cart full of snacks, work gloves, fishing lures, birdseed, and Carhartt things... and maybe a bag of beef jerky.

Fleet Farm’s story goes back to 1955, when Stewart C. Mills Sr. opened the first Fleet Wholesale Supply in Marshfield, Wisconsin. Just a year later, new stores popped up in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and by 1957, the company kicked off a Christmas tradition with the very first “Toyland.”

In 1961, the name officially became Fleet & Farm Supply, and as Stewart Sr. expanded with his sons, the business kept growing across the Midwest. The 1970s and 80s brought even more milestones. Stores opened in places like Oshkosh, Rochester, Brainerd/Baxter, and Brooklyn Park, along with auto centers, hunting and fishing license sales, and the debut of those big store updates you’d recognize today.

By the late ‘80s, Fleet Farm had cemented itself as a Midwest staple, blending everything from outdoor gear to auto supplies under one roof.

Now, Fleet Farm has 50 stores across Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, and South Dakota, and is celebrating their 70th anniversary this month in true Fleet Farm fashion: with freebies, food, and some seriously cool sweepstakes.

Fleet Farm Is Throwing a Massive 70th Anniversary Celebration With Freebies, Snacks, and Big Giveaways

The party kicks off Friday, September 12, through Sunday, September 14 at all Fleet Farm locations. Each day, the first 500 customers will score a limited-edition 70th anniversary gift:

• Friday, Sept. 12: Free water bottle
• Saturday, Sept. 13: Free can coozie
• Sunday, Sept. 14: Free hat

If you’re a Fleet Farm regular (or just love free stuff), you’ll probably want to set an alarm and head in early.
