MINNEAPOLIS, MN (MinnesotaNow)— A fatal multi-vehicle accident occurred Wednesday night resulting in one fatality and several injuries.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash, which involved seven vehicles, happened at approximately 9:17 p.m. on eastbound I-94 near Lyndale Avenue, when a 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche, driven by 29-year-old Talon Covie-Cadrell Walker of St. Paul, was speeding and caused severe damage to multiple vehicles.

The crash report indicates Walker, who was not wearing a seatbelt and had been under the influence of alcohol, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC). His passenger, 20-year-old Taniyah Renee Randle-Smith, also from St. Paul, was critically injured and remains in life-threatening condition at HCMC.

The most tragic outcome of the crash was the death of 26-year-old Natalie Gubbay of Minneapolis, the driver of a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. Gubbay was wearing a seatbelt at the time but succumbed to her injuries after being transported to HCMC. Her passenger, 28-year-old Brenton Molly Elizabeth of Virginia, MN, survived with non-life-threatening injuries.

Additionally, a 2023 GMC Yukon carrying several passengers, including children, was also involved. All occupants, including a 2-year-old and a 5-year-old, survived with minor injuries.

None of the drivers of the other four vehicles involved in the crash sustained life-threatening injuries, though some were taken to local hospitals for treatment.

Authorities are continuing their investigation.
