Dakota County, MN (MinnesotaNow) - There were at least two fatal traffic crashes in Minnesota on Saturday, and a 5-year-old girl was among the victims.

5-Year-Old Killed in Dakota County Rollover

The State Patrol says the child was in a van that crashed on I-494 in Dakota County shortly after 10 a.m. on Saturday. The vehicle was headed west on the freeway when it left the roadway and rolled multiple times.

Crash Involved Family From Oregon

The driver was identified as 20-year-old Angel Eduardo Ruiz Perez of Salem, Oregon. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries but was not transported to a hospital.

The young girl killed in the crash was pronounced dead at the scene. She has been identified as 5-year-old Camila Flores, also of Salem, Oregon.

There were two other passengers in the van, a 13-year-old boy and a 35-year-old woman. Their names and information about their possible injuries have not been released.

Child Was.Restrained in the Vehicle

The State Patrol says the little girl who died in the crash was not restrained by a seat belt or other safety device. Alcohol involvement is not suspected.


Semi-Truck Involved in Fatal Western Minnesota Crash

The other fatal crash was reported shortly before 11 a.m. in western Minnesota.

The State Patrol says a semi-truck traveling west on Highway 60 collided with an SUV at a rural intersection in the town of Butterfield, approximately seven miles west of St. James. Forty-three-year-old Richard Sanow of Marshall was driving the truck and was not injured.

Elderly Butterfield Man Dies in Highway 60 Collision

The fatality involved the driver of the SUV. The State Patrol says 83-year-old Wayne Gary Hanson of Butterfield was pronounced dead at the scene.

His passenger has been identified as of Butterfield. She was transported to a hospital in St. James with what the State Patrol described as life-threatening injuries.

The State Patrol says alcohol is not suspected in the crash, and all three individuals were wearing seat belts.
