Coon Rapids, MN (KROC-AM News) - Authorities in the Twin Cities are investigating a deadly car versus pedestrian collision.

The Anoka County Sheriff's Office says police officers from Coon Rapids and Fridley responded just before 6 AM today to a report that a motorist had struck something while driving near some railroad tracks in Coon Rapids. The report says the arriving officers found a severely injured woman lying on the road.

A preliminary investigation indicates the man driving the vehicle was headed west when he struck the victim on the road. Emergency responders from the Coon Rapids Fire Department and Allina paramedics performed lifesaving measures at the scene before the woman was transported to a nearby hospital where she died from her injuries.

Her name is not been released. The Anoka County Sheriff's Office also noted the driver of the vehicle is cooperating with the investigation.
