There are some great places to live in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. Apparently, there is one town in our great state that some considered the prettiest.

Maybe this small town is your hometown, or maybe you've passed through it. I feel like anyone would either live in or at the very least, visit a city that's labeled the prettiest.

Before we dive into which city can claim this title, what exactly is a small town?

The U.S. Census Bureau defines small towns as incorporated areas with 5,000 residents or fewer. Midsize cities have between 5,000 - 10,000 people, and big cities are noted for having populations of 50,000 or more. So I'm not entirely sure what the name is for towns that have between 10,000 - 50,000 people are considered.

The website Daily Meal, put together a list of the prettiest town in each state. The website took into account of unique beauty based on geographical and cultural diversity in each of the 50 states. They also looked into smaller towns that have special combinations of natural surroundings, history, architecture, and even art to decide what makes a city the prettiest in the state.

Lanesboro

You can find this small town in Fillmore Country with a population of 754 at the 2010 census. The city even claims to be the "hidden gem" of Southeastern Minnesota. Back in 2013 it even made the list of "Top 12 Small Town Art Places".

Another nickname for the city is the Bed & Breakfast Capitol of Minnesota. Not only can you find a few Bed & Breakfasts in the town, but you'll also find the Root River State Bike Trail, resorts, campgrounds, art galleries, live theatre, and so much more.

Lanesboro is south of Rochester and is about a 4 hour drive from Duluth. Speaking of Lanesboro, they also made the list of unusual high school mascots in Minnesota. Check it out below:
