Check Your Pantry: Target’s Recalling Nearly 200,000 Cans of Green Beans

There's an ongoing recall of a popular brand of canned green beans sold in Target stores in Minnesota and 20 other states you should probably know about.

The recall began on February 12 and was classified by the FDA on March 13. According to the FDA enforcement report, it is still ongoing

The FDA says it’s a Class II recall, which means the risk of something really bad happening is low, but there’s still a chance it could cause some temporary issues.

Which Green Beans Have Been Recalled From Target?

Target and Del Monte Foods, have issued a voluntary recall of its Good & Gather Cut Green Beans. The recall affects 8,242 cases, equivalent to 197,808 individual cans, distributed across 21 states, including Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois.

The recalled 14.5oz cans have a "Best if Used By" date of October 28, 2026, and lot number 7AA 418507.

If you have any of these cans you are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Reason For Green Beans Recall at Target

The recall was initiated after Del Monte Foods discovered a foreign object in the green beans.

While the specific object has not been disclosed, it's likely some kind of metal, plastic, or other material that poses a risk of choking, dental injury, or gastrointestinal irritation if eaten, Food Safety News explains.

The FDA says the contamination poses a remote risk of adverse health consequences.
