Rochester City Council

The Rochester City Council and Destination Medical Center Corporation Board (DMC) approved the plans to adjust the space earlier this year.

The vote, held Monday night, did not receive unanimous approval from the elected leaders.

The City is expected to ask the DMC for more funding to meet the higher budget.

City council approval would also allow for crews to prepare construction of the indoor amenities at the massive complex.

It’s the second time this year Mayor Norton has vetoed this type of project.

The Rochester City Council is expected to ask the State Legislature to include planning money for the projects in the next bonding bill.

The DMC Corporation Board approved a resolution to request a modification to the boundary during their May 22 meeting.

Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) traffic figures indicate an average of nearly 50,000 vehicles pass through the intersection daily.

Construction of the development is scheduled to start by the end of the year.
