Reports indicate travel conditions have been treacherous in some areas surrounding Rochester.

The City of Rochester has already announced parking restrictions for the downtown area and is urging everyone to go back to alternate side parking until the snow can be removed.

The warnings also extend to surrounding states. Some areas could experience up to a foot of snow and winds gusting as high as 65 mph.

The NWS in Lacrosse says a significant storm will move through the region on Wednesday, March 19th, and Thursday, March 20th.

Scattered severe storms are possible Friday evening across southeast Minnesota, northeast Iowa, and western Wisconsin,

Residents should not burn in those counties and permits will not be issued or activated.

Expect slippery roads, significant visibility reductions, fallen branches, and even a period of blizzard-like conditions in these areas.

The Rochester Fire Department was called out in the late morning to battle a significant grass fire.
