Albany earned their first boys basketball state championship by defeating Minnehaha Academy 72-65 Saturday afternoon at Target Center in the Class 2-A State Championship. The Huskies led 39-31 at halftime and held off the Red Hawks in the 2nd half.

The 2nd seeded Albany Huskies defeated Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton 79-64 Friday night in the Class 2-A boys basketball state tournament semifinals at Target Center. The Huskies led 34-27 at halftime and never trailed in the 2nd half.

Albany started fast and held off Pequot Lakes 69-53 at Williams Arena in the Class 2-A State Boys Basketball Tournament Quarterfinals Tuesday night. The Huskies led 27-18 at halftime and outscored Pequot Lakes 42-35 in the 2nd half.

Central Minnesota will be well represented at the girls basketball state tournament this week. In Class 2-A Albany is seeded 3rd and New London-Spicer is seeded 4th. Becker is the top seed and Alexandria is seeded 3rd in 3-A. Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa is seeded 5th in Class A.
