Southern MN Child Critically Hurt in Crash at Rural Intersection
Mankato, MN (KROC-AM News) - A young child was airlifted to Rochester following a two-vehicle crash near Mankato.
The State Patrol says 6-year-old Kellen Ahlma was a passenger in an SUV driven by 42-year-old Rebecca Ahlma of Janesville when it collided with a pickup truck at an intersection just southwest of Mankato. She was not injured, but the child was brought to St. Marys Hospital with what the State Patrol described as life-threatening injuries.
The collision was reported around 3:15 PM at the junction of Blue Earth County Roads 90 and 33 near Mount Kato, which is controlled by a stop sign on County Road 33. The State Patrol says the SUV was traveling north on County 33, while the pickup was westbound on County 90.
The driver of the pickup was identified as 24-year-old Austin Smith of Mankato. The State Patrol says neither driver was hurt.
