Rochester Police Seeking Armed Gas Station Robbery Suspect
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Rochester Police Department is looking for an armed man accused of robbing a northwest Rochester gas station Monday night.
Police Captain Casey Moilanen said officers responded to a robbery report at the Casey’s store located in the 4500 block of Service Dr. shortly before 9 p.m. A woman in her 40’s was working inside of the store when the suspect, armed with what’s being described as a baton taser, entered the building.
The clerk told officers the suspect went behind the counter and demanded she open the safe. She told police the suspect said he wasn’t going to hurt her but said he kept turning the taser on and off.
The woman told police she could not get the safe open. She said the suspect then had her open the cash register which he emptied before fleeing the store southbound on foot.
No injuries were reported. The amount of cash taken from the register was not disclosed but described as a small amount.
Moilanen said several officers responded to the store but could not locate the suspect. He’s described as standing between 5’7” and 5’9” and weighing 150 pounds.
Rochester police obtained a surveillance photo of the suspect, which shows him wearing a black hood and a mask that covered the lower half of his face. Moilanen is asking anyone with information regarding the robbery to contact Rochester police or to report information anonymously through Crime Stoppers of Rochester and Olmsted County.
