Three New Stores Opening Soon in Minnesota’s Mall of America
Minnesota's Mall of America is growing with three brand-new stores set to open soon.
Love it or hate it, if you’ve ever been to the Mall of America, you know it’s not just a mall; it’s an experience. Since opening in 1992, MOA has drawn millions of visitors every year to its absolutely massive 5.6 million square feet of retail space.

Fun fact: Before the mall existed, the land was home to Metropolitan Stadium, where the Twins and Vikings used to play. They moved to the Metrodome in the ‘80s, leaving prime real estate open for something new, and by 1989, construction of the Mall of America began.

When the doors finally opened in August 1992, there were 330 stores and over 10,000 employees. Fast forward to today, and MOA is still a huge deal, bringing in 32 million visitors a year and pumping almost $2 billion into Minnesota’s economy.

And the Mall of America isn't slowing down, with three more stores on the way. Here’s what's coming and when they are opening:
New MOA Store #1: SKIMS
Co-founded by Kim Kardashian, SKIMS is a store that sells branded shapewear, loungewear, and underwear. It was first launched as an online-only store in 2019 and now has brick-and-mortar locations in several major cities like Los Angeles, New York, and Austin, and a Chicago location is reportedly coming soon, too.
New MOA Store #2: New Balance Store
This brand is no stranger to most as it has been around since 1906. They used to be classic 'dad shoes,' but lately, the brand has become popular among young people through collaborations with celebrities and designers.

New MOA Store #3: NBA Store
The NBA Store has locations all over the world, so it's only fitting they add one to the Mall of America. It's a basketball lover's paradise, selling official jerseys, hats, sneakers, and collectibles.
We reached out to Mall of America for opening dates on the three new stores, and they said, "NBA Store is set to open this spring and New Balance this summer, more to come on Skims."
