
Minnesota’s Job Growth Rate Triples U.S. Average in January
St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - The monthly unemployment report from the state shows Minnesota enjoyed strong job growth through the first month of the year.
The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development says the state saw a net gain of 9600 jobs in January for a job growth rate of 3-tenths of a percentage point. A news release from the agency notes that Minnesota's job growth was three times higher than the national average.

According to the monthly economic report, Minnesota's labor force grew by approximately 4800 people in January. At the same time, the state's labor force participation rate was up a tenth of a percentage point to 68.1%. Nationally, that rate is about 62.2%.
The state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for the first month of 2025 was pegged at 3%, compared with the nationwide rate of 4%.
Due to an annual review and revision process conducted by the Department of Employment and Economic Development, the number of jobs added in Minnesota last year has been revised upward and the states unemployment rates for the final months of 2024 were modestly lowered and now show the Minnesota's jobless rate has been steady at 3% for the past four months.
