Minnesota Woman Held in Toddler Homicide; Extradition Pending
Moorhead, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Minnesota woman has been arrested in connection with the death of her young son.
The Moorhead Police Department says 32-year-old Valerie Connie Zamora was taken into custody in Fargo, where she is being held until she can be extradited across the Red River to Minnesota to face charges. Her arrest warrant indicates she will be arraigned on second-degree murder charges after she is transferred to Clay County authorities.
A news release says the recent death of 20-month-old José Lazarus Zamora was initially investigated as suspicious. The results of a preliminary autopsy conducted by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office have now ruled the child's death a homicide.

Moorhead police say the investigation is ongoing, and no other information is being released at this time. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the investigation.
