Le Sueur, MN (MinnesotaNow) -  A deadly incident on a rural highway in southern Minnesota last weekend has resulted in felony charges against a Le Sueur man.

Court documents show that 48-year-old Jeremy Michael Davidson was arraigned today in Sibley County Court on charges of criminal vehicular homicide and felony DWI. He was arrested Saturday night after law enforcement responded to a rural intersection about seven miles northwest of Le Sueur. The criminal complaint says a caller reported that his wife jumped on the vehicle and was run over.

Davidson’s Account of the Events

When officers arrived at the scene, the court document says they found Davidson near his vehicle and detected the odor of alcoholic beverages coming from him and observed that he had slurred speech. According to the criminal complaint, Davidson told officers that he and his wife had been drinking that evening and, while they were driving home, his wife “had gotten mad and started punching him” before jumping out of the moving pickup truck.

Preliminary Breath Test Refused

The criminal complaint says field sobriety tests were performed at the scene, but Davidson refused to submit to a preliminary breath test for alcohol. Following his arrest, a search warrant was obtained for a sample of his blood. The results of tests on that sample are still pending.

His conditional cash bail was set at $10,000.
