Minnesota Teens ID’D as Cliff Divers Pulled from Lake Superior
Search and rescue teams respond to Black Beach in Silver Bay, which is about 56 miles up the north shore from Duluth, after receiving reports Sunday afternoon of two individuals jumping from a cliff then struggling to swim in the water. The first body was recovered about five hours after the call and the second body was pulled from the lake roughly 90 minutes after the first body recovery.
An updated news released issued by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office identifies the divers as 18-year-old Austin Henning of South St. Paul and 18-year-old Maximillion Williams of Inver Grove Heights. Authorities said the two men drowned after jumping into the water.
The search and rescue effort involved recovery teams from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota DNR and U.S. Coast Guard.
