The Minnesota Food Truck Festival just picked up a pretty big national nod. It was named one of the Top 10 Best City Food Festivals in the country by USA Today’s 10Best list, and if you’ve ever been, you’ll probably agree that’s not surprising at all.
Minnesota Food Truck Festival Named Top 10 Best City Food Festival in the Country
USA Today worked with a panel of culinary experts to nominate festivals across the country, then let readers vote on the final rankings. When it was all said and done, the Minnesota Food Truck Festival landed at #10 in the U.S.
Here’s how USA Today describes it:
“The MN Food Truck Festival takes place in Hopkins, Minneapolis, and Anoka, Minnesota, showcasing the delicious depth of the area's street food and food truck scene. From Thai to Somali, from fresh-from-the-fryer donuts to Juicy Lucy burgers, this festival offers a plethora of options to satisfy every palate. Live music and DJs add to the celebratory air.”
Yep, that’s pretty much the experience in a nutshell.

Why Food Truck Festivals Just Hit Different
I’ve found some of the best-tasting, most authentic food at food trucks.
Most of these trucks aren’t trying to do everything. They pick a lane, lock in, and absolutely master it. Whether it’s tacos, egg rolls, barbecue, or something you’ve never tried before, there’s usually a level of flavor you just don’t get everywhere else.
Now take dozens of those trucks, line them up in one spot, add in cold drinks, lawn games, live music, and one of those perfect Minnesota summer days… and it turns into something special.
The fact that these festivals are dog-friendly seals the deal for me. Good food, good weather, and a couple of Great Danes roaming around soaking up attention? I’m in.

The 2026 Minnesota Food Festival Dates and Locations
If you’re already thinking about your game plan, here’s where you can catch it this year:
🍔 Hopkins – May 9
On Main Street in downtown Hopkins. This one feels like it could be the unofficial start of summer.
🌮 Minneapolis – August 1
Father Hennepin Bluff Park along the Mississippi River near Saint Anthony Main. Tough to beat that setting.
🍩 Anoka – August 15
Downtown Anoka (Jackson Street and 2nd Ave). This one’s celebrating its 9th year and goes big with 50+ food trucks.
Now that you have all the event details, here’s the strategy: Go with friends. Share everything. Pace yourself.
Because the biggest mistake you can make at a food truck festival is filling up too fast and realizing you still have 20 trucks you haven’t tried yet.
And if you see me there juggling three different meals while pretending I still have room for dessert… mind your business. I’ve got a system. 😄
