Minneapolis, MN (MinnesotaNow)— Detectives from the Violent Offender Task Force (VOTF) made significant arrests during a recent enforcement operation focused on combating violent crime in Minneapolis.

According to a release from the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, the operation led to the arrest of a known fugitive as well as a suspected kidnapper, and the recovery of stolen vehicles and illegally possessed firearms in two separate incidents.

Fugitive Caught, Guns Seized in Minnesota Task Force Traffic Stop

In one incident, VOTF detectives conducted a traffic stop of a known fugitive with an active felony warrant, the release says.

During the stop, officers discovered a handgun equipped with a switch and an AK47-style Draco pistol inside the vehicle. All three adults in the vehicle were arrested, and the Minneapolis Police Department is investigating the case.

Minnesota Task Force Rescues Kidnapping Victim, Arrests Suspects After Chase

In a separate incident, VOTF responded to a report of a possible kidnapping involving a male suspect pointing a gun at individuals and threatening to shoot them.

Detectives located the suspect vehicle, a stolen Dodge Ram pickup, which fled the scene before crashing into a light pole. Three male occupants fled on foot but were quickly apprehended by VOTF and MPD officers.

Hennepin County Sheriff says the female kidnapping victim was found safe near the crashed vehicle.

The enforcement detail reportedly resulted in a total of 11 arrests, the recovery of three stolen vehicles, and the seizure of three illegally possessed handguns.

No further details were immediately released as investigations into both incidents continue.
