
Man Dies After Apparent Fall From Albert Lea Apartment Window
Albert Lea, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Albert Lea Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man who died early today after what officials are describing as an apparent fall from a building.
A news release indicates Albert Lea police officers responded around 6:15 AM to Shady Oaks Apartments at 800 4th Avenue in Albert Lea. The officers reported finding a fatally injured 54-year-old man at the base of the building.

The statement says it appears the man fell from an upper story window. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Albert Lea police say, at this time, there are no signs that foul play was involved and there is no ongoing threat to public safety. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information useful to investigators is asked to contact the Albert Lea Police Department at 507-377-5200.
The name of the victim has not been released.
The deadly incident occurred at the same apartment building where a shooting spree took place several years ago.
24-year-old Devin Weiland shot and wounded three people, including and Albert Lea police officer, when he fired an estimated 75 bullets from his third-floor apartment window at the Shady Oaks Apartments on November 29, 2020.
Weiland was later convicted of multiple counts of first-degree attempted murder and second-degree assault. He was sentenced to a total of about 50 years in prison.
