REVIEW: Kwik Trip Introduces Their Version Of Twix, ‘Kwikz’ Candy Bars
If you're in Kwik Trip Territory across much of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and inching into other nearby states, you are probably familiar with their store brand "Urge". The Kwik Trip-owned brand just announced a couple of new candy bars, and I had to try one.
Kwik Trip introduced the Urge brand back in 1987, with the Wisconsin-based company saying the whole idea behind the brand is to "give guests exclusive access to snacks that deliver big on flavor and personality."
Starting with snack items like pretzels and potato chips, the brand has expanded over the years, growing a cult following among passionate Kwik Trip fans across the Upper Midwest.
Their most recent offering is a pair of sweet treats, two candy bars that they announced at the beginning of 2026.

The first of the two candy bars (the blue-packaged one in the photo below) is their new "Wannabe" bars, an Urge version of the popular Snickers candy bar.
The other (the one with the yellow packaging) is the "Kwikz" bar, Kwik Trip's take on the Twix bar. When it comes to candy bars, Twix are among my favorites, so that's the one I tried and am here to review.
The Urge Kwikz bars come packaged in pairs, just like Twix bars. They're also not sold in tiny bite-sized versions (as of right now), coming in the full-size candy bar size you'd expect in the candy bar aisle.
So, how do they taste? Do Kwikz bars compare to Twix bars?
My first impression is that they're pretty close to the popular Twix bars the Mars company has been making for years. Here are my observations:
The textured design and look of Kwikz bars are pretty much what you'd expect if you opened a Twix.
I can't quite place my finger on it, but the chocolate and caramel tastes slightly different than a normal Twix bar. Not in a bad way at all. It just has a slightly different flavor profile than what Mars uses for making their Twix bars. I wouldn't say it is better or worse, just a little different.
Apparently, I'm not the only one who observed that the chocolate tasted a little different. In the Kwik Trip social media post about the new candy bars, some people commented on the chocolate.
Some people simply said they liked the new Kwikz bars, but not everyone agreed. There were a handful of comments that didn't praise the new candy bar. One person called them "mid" with another similarly saying they were "ok", while a few other people said they weren't a fan at all.

I think they're a solid offering, but they aren't quite a Twix. If a Twix is a 5 out of 5, I'd call Kwikz a 4 out of 5.
People in the comments who had tried the Wannabe bars said they liked it more, saying it tasted just like a Snickers, while there were more mixed comments about the comparisons between Twix and Kwikz. I guess I'll have to try the Wannabe next to be sure.
So, we've talked flavor, but how about the value?
How do Kwikz bars compare in price to Twix?
Based on the Kwik Trip I normally shop at, a comparable-sized Twix bar package is $2.49. Kwik Trip is doing a promotional deal through the end of January, where Kwikz and their new Wannabe bars are $0.99. That isn't the normal price, however.
I asked a store employee how much Kwikz bars are when they're not on sale, and they said they believe the cost is $1.79, though they were not 100% sure.
If that is indeed the price, that's a 70-cent savings for a Kwikz bar compared to a Twix when they're at the regular price.
