Local Meteorologist Shares Startling Winter Fact
Say it ain't snow! It's no secret that we've had a very mild winter so far in the Duluth area.
We've had a few cold snaps but truly, they haven't lasted very long. In terms of snow, we've had a few rounds but that also hasn't amounted to much.
While one weather analyst says that could all change soon as a major snowstorm moves in later this month, where things stand now, this month is turning out pretty bleak!
Justin Liles, Chief Meteorologist at WDIO, gave insight into just how bleak this winter is in terms of snowfall and it's pretty eye-opening.
According to his stats, as of Wednesday (January 8th), the Duluth area hasn't even had one inch of snow! That is insane. In fact, we haven't even had half an inch.

To make this stat even more shocking, we aren't anywhere close to the 2.8" on record from January of 2008. All it takes is one storm but as Justin pointed out, it doesn't seem likely that this will happen.
At the time of writing, the Northland may get hit with a few inches of snow this upcoming weekend. That could take us out of the running for one of the least snowy January months ever!

However, it's also possible that we see nothing at all. It looks like we really may have another mild winter after all. Only time will tell.
