Do you think you have what it takes to name a snowplow? Minnesota has cranked out some seriously good ones over the years - Taylor Drift, Dolly Plowton, Plowabunga - so the bar is set high. Now, it’s your turn.

MnDOT’s 2025–26 “Name a Snowplow” contest is officially open, and they’re looking for your most clever, punny, Minnesota-winter-approved name ideas. No pressure or anything… just the chance to have your plow show up on every news station the moment the first big storm hits. ;)

They’re looking to name eight new plows, one for each MnDOT district. So yes, you technically have eight chances to land eternal bragging rights. Can you picture it? You're cruising down Highway 52, coffee in hand, when suddenly you see your plow - your creation - heroically clearing the way. That’s a flex.

But before you start typing out 27 versions of Plowy McPlowface (don’t), here are this year’s rules:

  • You only get one submission, so choose wisely, my friend.

  • It must be under 30 characters - and that includes spaces.

  • Keep it clean. Minnesota Nice applies here.

  • No politics. Snowplows may be powerful, but they’re not running for office.

  • And, no surprise here… past winners are off-limits.

Submissions close at noon on Friday, December 19th, so don't wait!

Whether you go cute, clever, icy, spicy, or full-on dad joke, now’s your moment. Let’s see what you’ve got, Minnesota.
