What’s the best place to live in Minnesota? That’s always up for debate or is it? A new report crunched the numbers for 2025, and one city rose to the top as the most sought-after spot in the entire state.

Minnesota is already a fantastic place to call home. It shows up on all the right lists - best places to live, top states for raising a family, great schools - you name it. Whether you’re drawn to small-town charm or the rhythm of city life, the North Star State offers the best of both worlds.

Last year, Minneapolis took the crown as Minnesota’s most moved-to city, thanks to that rare blend of big-city life and Midwest warmth. Where you can walk to grab a coffee, hit a farmer’s market, or find yourself at a live show on a Tuesday night. Not to mention, the endless bike trails and amazing food scene.

But, for 2025? Let’s just say... you might want to pack your flannel and hiking boots.

More People Are Moving Here Than Anywhere Else In Minnesota:

According to a new report from MoveBuddha, Duluth is now the most moved-to city in the state. The ranking is based on how many people are looking to move in compared to those planning to leave, and in Duluth’s case, nearly twice as many are hoping to move there. The highest in the whole state.

And let's be real, it’s easy to see why.

With a population of just under 88,000 and a median home price around $258,000, Duluth offers that ideal balance of affordability and adventure. You get unbeatable views of Lake Superior, miles of hiking and biking trails, great breweries and shops, and four-season access to the great outdoors, all wrapped in an adorable city that feels local and welcoming.
