America’s Least-Favorite Ice Cream is Sold Here in Minnesota

You scream, I scream, we all may scream for ice cream, but you might scream even more if you buy some of America's least favorite ice cream, which is available right here in Minnesota.

Now that the warm weather season is back in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, there are few things that are better than grabbing a frozen confectionary treat to help you cool off, right? And, thanks to our hard-working Minnesota dairy farmers and creameries, there are some amazing ice cream brands and places to get some delicious frozen sweet treats all across the state.

In fact, Bridgeman's Extra-Quality Ice Cream is one of the brands routinely noted for having some of the best ice cream around. Plus, it's a genuine Minnesota company,  too, having opened its first ice cream parlor in Duluth back in 1936!

But not *all* ice cream is the best, however. (Though even if it's not the best, in a state like Minnesota, where ice cream is universally adored, even the 'least-favorite' ice cream still has to be pretty good, doesn't it? Of course it does!)

The crew over at 24/7 Wall Street recently did a survey to determine America's least-favorite ice cream brands. They looked at eight different food websites, blogs, and vlogs. And, they said, because 'ice cream preference is highly subjective, we used an aggregate scoring system to compile this list of ice cream brands that received unfavorable reviews from our sources,' the story said.

And, as it turns out, the brand that scored the worst on their survey-- and is America's least-favorite ice cream-- is sold right here in the North Star State. So which brand is it?

That dubious honor goes to the cool and creamy treats from Blue Ribbon Classics. 24/7 Wall Street says it scored the lowest in its survey due to what several respondents said were its 'artificial taste and texture,' the story said.

The story also noted that Blue Ribbon Classics products aren't even ice cream. That's because to be called 'ice cream,' the USDA's ice cream standard requires any product to 'contain at least 10% milkfat, and before the addition of bulky ingredients, must weigh a minimum of 4.5 pounds to the gallon.'

Thus, Blue Ribbon Classics products are labeled as 'frozen dairy desserts,' instead of ice cream. And, yes, you can get Blue Ribbon Classics here in the Bold North. Their website says they are available at select Minnesota retailers that include some familiar locations:

Again, though, even the 'worst' ice cream-- or frozen dairy products, that is-- are still pretty good, right? Ice cream isn't just popular here in Minnesota or the U.S. but all over the world.
