This is a really sad day for me and my fellow fans of Thesis Beer Project. Thesis has announced they'll be closing their doors.

They sent an email out with the announcement, citing the struggles of the construction that's been happening on 2nd Street.

I'm probably preaching to the choir here, but when is something going to get figured out so local businesses stop struggling to survive this construction? I understand that the construction may be necessary and sure, there would be growing pains, but we're not going to help our local businesses survive in the meantime? I don't get it and I'm upset.

Thesis is Closing in Rochester, MN

The email from Thesis reads:

Most of you are probably aware that for the better part of the past year, there has been significant construction along 2nd Street SW in front of our brewery. The longer these projects go on, the more we are seeing people avoid 2nd Street altogether.

They mention that since construction started, business has dropped almost 50%. That's crazy! They also write that it seems clear that construction will continue late into 2027 and they "no longer see any viable way for Thesis to survive long enough to see these projects completed."

Thesis will officially be closing its doors in the coming months.

They plan to continue operation into December, "but due to ongoing losses, we may need to cease operations much soon than that."

Are we disappointed? Hell yeah. Are we mad? Very. This is obviously not how we wanted the Thesis story to end. But, as they say in the business - There is no use crying over spilt beer.
