Minnesota Airline has Announced its ‘Largest Schedule Expansion Ever’

When you fly out of Minnesota from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, there are tons and tons of airlines to choose from. But one airline that not only flies out of MSP but is also based in Minnesota has announced something they've never done before.

How Far in Advance Can You Buy a Plane Ticket?

Each airline is different when it comes to how far in advance you can book a flight. For example, when I've checked Sun Country in the past I believe I couldn't get a ticket more than 9 months out, give or take. On Delta, though, you can get a ticket about 11 months out.

So depending on your preferred airline, you may need to wait a bit before booking that flight.

I've always found that a little unfortunate because if I find a good deal on, let's say a hotel, I feel uncomfortable booking the hotel before booking how I'm going to get to the location. I always like to make sure I've got my flight figured out before booking anything else.

Sun Country Extends Schedule

Minnesota-based airline Sun Country has extended their schedule more than they ever have before, according to The Points Guy. Not only that but they've also added some flights for 2024 and have announced two new flights for 2025. They're busy!

First, Sun Country has extended their schedule so now you can book a flight with them through April 2025. So if you're already itching to make travel plans for next year's spring break they've got you.

New Sun Country Flights for 2024

Second, Sun Country added 10 new flights this year and all of them are going to and from MSP. Those destinations are:

Missoula, MT

Billings, MT

Boise, ID

Oakland, CA

Albuquerque, NM

Washington DC

Grand Rapids, MI

Toronto, Canada

Syracuse, NY

Montreal, Canda

All but two of these routes are directly competing with Delta, so Sun Country is really trying to become a big player in the airline industry. The only two that aren't in competition with Delta, according to The Points Guy, are the flights to Oakland and Syracuse.

New Sun Country Flights for 2025

As for the new flights coming in 2025, Sun Country has announced two so far. Both of these flights are going to and from Milwaukee, WI and the destinations are amazing. They're flying nonstop to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and Montego Bay, Jamaica. Yes please, I would love to go to any of these places!
