New Japanese Donut Shop to Open this Month in Rochester, Minnesota

A new donut shop is opening very soon in Rochester, Minnesota. And this isn't just any donut shop, these are Japanese mochi donuts and they look so good!

What is a Mochi Donut?

Mochi donuts, according to Sago Mochi Donuts, are eight pieces of dough connected into a circle "that are wonderfully stretchy and chewy, with a sticky addictiveness to each bite." They're also the most popular kind of donut in Japan.

I'm so excited to have these available in Rochester soon!

Minnesota's First Japanese Donut Shop

The mochi donut shop opening soon in Rochester is not the first shop to open in Minnesota. That title goes to the shop I mentioned earlier, Soga Mochi Donuts.

They opened up shop in St. Paul just over a year ago and they were the first mochi donut shop in Minnesota.

When is the Mochi Donut Shop Opening in Rochester, MN?

The mochi donut shop we're getting in Rochester is called Mochinut. They have locations in the Twin Cities and now we'll get to have them in town very soon.

Mochinut sells mochi donuts of all different flavors. They also sell hot dogs, which are apparently super good according to a friend of mine. And they also sell different flavored boba drinks.

They'll be located on South Broadway at the former Nashville Coop location. They're hoping to open their doors on Monday, January 29th, according to the Post Bulletin. That is unless something happens. I haven't been able to find anything on their website or social media saying an official date yet, just 'late January'.
