SCARY: Iowa Truck Stops on Nationwide ‘Do Not Stop’ List

When you hit the road to go visit family or to head out of town on a road trip, you come across plenty of rest areas and truck stops in Iowa. I've hit up plenty along I-35. But there are some that are on a nationwide 'do not stop' list that I just learned about.

'Do Not Stop' Location List for Truck Stops

This 'do not stop' list is for truck stops across the country that are potentially dangerous. On the list, which I found a picture of on Reddit, it says "The following truck stops pose a risk for drivers and their loads."

The list consists of 82 different truck stops that people are advised to not stop at across 20 states and one Canadian province. That includes the ones in Iowa that are on the list.

A commenter on Reddit writes that "the reason why they're saying not to stop here ... [is] because those locations have been targeted by organized crime rings who steal cargo from trucks."

I'm not sure if this commenter has experienced this issue themselves or if this is speculation. Either way, it's probably best to avoid these Iowa truck stops if possible.

Iowa Truck Stops on National 'Do Not Stop' List

The Iowa truck stops that are on the 'do not stop' list are Pilot Travel Center #329 on I-80/29, Exit 1B in Council Bluffs, IA

and Love's #912 on I-80, Exit 1B in Council Bluffs, IA. This one is interesting though because the address I found for location #912 is 2423 S 24th St, Council Bluffs, which gives me this place:

It has the little Love's heart logo at the corner of the building but it sure doesn't look like a truck stop to me. It's right next to the Pilot Truck Stop, though.

Other states that have truck stops on the list are Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Washington. The Canadian province on the list is Saskatchewan.
