When you think of major chains here in Minnesota, you probably think of retail giants like Walmart which has 68 locations in the state, gas stations like Kwik Trip with 212 stores, or famous fast-food joints like McDonald's with 218 restaurants. While these companies are scattered across our entire state, the largest chain surpasses them all in terms of total locations.

The biggest chain in our state is a fast-food restaurant that can be found in small towns and big cities alike, but again, it's not McDonald's. Mickey D's would have been my guess, and they do have a lot of restaurants throughout the state, but the biggest chain has twice as many spots. McDonald's isn't even in the top 3 for the number of locations. See the biggest chain below.

The Biggest Chain in Minnesota Has More Than 400 Locations

The team at Stacker recently dove into the numbers and put together a list of the fast-food companies with the most locations in our state. Popular restaurants like Taco Bell, Burger King, and Pizza Hut, were all in the top 10 but didn't make the top 3.

So, which fast-food chain is the true heavyweight champion of Minnesota? The answer is listed below along with the other biggest chain restaurants in the state.

There is a Subway in nearly every small town so I guess I'm not surprised to see they are number one. They're not our favorite fast-food chain though. A recent study published by Fox 9 shows Dairy Queen is Minnesota's favorite fast-food joint followed by Chipotle and Jimmy John's.
