Fire Cancels Classes W.I.P. Fitness in Rochester, MN Monday
The fire broke out at W.I.P. Fitness, which is located at 1318 Apache Dr. Southwest in Rochester.
Fire officials say the blaze was not visible from the outside of the building. Firefighters encountered heavy smoke when they entered the building and found and extinguished the fire despite challenging conditions posed by windy conditions and the building’s construction.
No injuries were reported. The fire inflicted what officials are describing as “extensive damage” to the building’s second floor and roof. There was also smoke damage reported throughout the building.
The post on the W.I.P.’s Facebook page says, “Good morning everyone. Classes are canceled for today due to a fire. We will keep you informed on what’s going on as we know and when things can resume. Thank you.”
The Rochester Fire Department’s Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene to investigate, which is standard procedure. Mayo Clinic Ambulance and the Rochester Police Department also responded to the fire.
