Why Is Hy-Vee Dropping Tones Spices?

If you've ever driven on I-35 through Iowa, you may have noticed Tones Spices in Ankeny, Iowa.  Actually, you may have smelled it first.

Tones Spices originated in Des Moines in 1873 and started packaging its well-known spices at its large, 340,000-square-foot property at 2301 SE Tones Drive in Ankeny in 1994.  I've taken many trips up and down I-35 and Tones Spices has become a brand name that is very recognizable on the side of the road.

Tones Spices is under the B&G Foods umbrella.  Hy-Vee still has a relationship with B&G Foods and will continue to offer over 200 of its products in its stores.  Based on a statement provided to KCCI, the demand for Tones Spices outweighed what the company was able to provide and as a result, Hy-Vee is going to primarily work with McCormick for their customers' spice needs.
