As most of us were trying to figure out what our goals were going to be for 2024 or our word for the new year, several businesses in our area were struggling to make ends meet and wrestling with a tough decision for the new year. Unfortunately, during the month of January, a few businesses in the Rochester, Minnesota area announced that they were saying goodbye and closing.

Personal Note To All of the Businesses That Are Struggling Right Now in Minnesota
I know there are a ton of businesses that are working hard to keep their doors open. Finding enough people to work and dealing with the huge increases in costs due to inflation are some of the major factors that are in play. Just a few days ago, Thesis Beer Project in Rochester got very open and honest about how they need support ASAP. If not, they too will be one of the many who say goodbye to the Med City.

If you are struggling, please reach out. I know as soon as times get tough, "marketing" seems to be one of the first expenses to go. Marketing positions have a tendency to be eliminated first...which makes zero sense. Or, the budget for marketing is cut because it is down to paying for the lights to stay on or paying for that next ad. That right there was my reality for several years.
My job was to sell and find the biggest ways to make money for the company. But there was a catch. My budget = zero dollars. When funds are limited, you have to think outside of the box, try new things, and it can work. Marketing might be a bit overwhelming and change is tough - I get it - but marketing can be magical if you are surrounded by the right people, tools, and resources.
