Amazing Store For Families Just Closed for Good in Rochester, MN
I am so sad for Rochester right now. One of the coolest spots for kids to enjoy just closed for good.
Another Store Has Closed For Good in Rochester, Minnesota
A few years ago, I was waiting for my flight at MSP when I hopped on a call for work. I heard through the grapevine that a new toy store was opening up in Rochester. The beloved ABC and Toy Zone store had just announced that it was closing and our community was a bit shaken by that news. Losing that local toy store feel was possibly a reality and families were devastated.
That phone call at MSP changed that perspective for me. Peter Cpin, C.O.O. of Legacy Toys, happily spoke with me and shared the plans for the new toy store going in that spot in Rochester. Their team was excited to continue providing toys in this legendary space that families were familiar with.
Sadly, it appears that the vision of a toy store in that space is dwindling. It has been confirmed that Legacy Toys has closed.
When Did Legacy Toys Close in Rochester, Minnesota?
According to ABC 6 News, Monday, March 10th, 2025 was the final day for sales out of the Rochester store.
As of me writing this, nothing has been noted on Google, the Legacy Toys website, or the Legacy Toys Facebook page for Rochester about this closing.
If you didn't have a chance to step in this store and see all of the items they had available for kids (and adults), you missed out. It even had the big, green dinosaur! (I was hoping it wouldn't eat me...FYI, I made it out safe.)
Here's why it is so important to support local:
- 80% of small businesses will survive their first year.
- each year, 1 in 12 businesses will close
- for a new business, 67.6% make it to 2 years
If you want your favorites to beat those stats, you need to shop there, like their Facebook pages, give them a thumbs up on a post every now and then or even a comment. There are a lot of easy and free ways to show support. (And in case you didn't know...your favorite radio stations are local too! If you haven't done it already today, go give the Y-105FM Facebook page or Instagram page a follow, a comment, or a like. If you own a business, spend some of your marketing dollars with us. It means a lot to us too!)
