That’s according to a news release issued Monday evening by the Minneapolis Police Department. The violent crime spree began Sunday morning and ended Sunday night.

Authorities say the suspects threatened the victims with a handgun in nine of 16 robberies. Losses by the robbery victims include purses, cash, credit cards, identification, cell phones, and vehicles, the news release says.

The last robbery, which police say was a carjacking, occurred shortly after 9:20 p.m. Officers spotted the car-jacked vehicle cross the Lowry bridge at a high rate of speed and saw it followed by another car that was also suspected of being carjacked.

Police pursued the first car and arrested the driver, who was found hiding under a different parked vehicle, after a brief foot chase.

The driver, described as a 17-years-old, was booked into the Hennepin County Jail. Police also found a handgun, according to the news release.

The second vehicle was in a rollover crash after it struck a parked vehicle. Two teens, ages 14 and 17, were taken to a hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries before being booked into the Hennepin County Jail.
